Sad to say it's been a slow week for me reading-wise. Instead, I found myself knee-deep in PVR recordings and Netflix. I started watching Showtime's The Borgias about two weeks ago and managed to finish/catch up on seasons two and three in the past six days. I have a problem, guys. I'm absolutely addicted to this show. And now I'm learning they might not make a fourth season? No. You can't just dangle the show in front of my face and then snatch it away just like that. The show did awaken my love for history, which has died down a little since I graduated and decided to distance myself from it (Roman and Greek in particular) after 4+ years of studying it every day. But now it's back and I found myself scouring the shelves for even more historical literature, both fiction and non-fiction. If you guys have any recommendations -- I'm open to any era, really -- just leave a comment!

I know, I know... "Audrey, where have you been?!" Well, life has been hectic with school and work, among many other things in this exciting life I lead (it's not all that exciting; I'm just bad at multi-tasking. Also, blame the sudden Les Misérables phenomenon for sucking me into their online fandom). I had to take a hiatus on such short notice, and for that, I'm very sorry. But thanks to everyone who has been e-mailing and still showing support for my little old blog! You are very much appreciated. This Sunday Post will be pretty short, as I'm still trying to get back into the swing of things and haven't had much time to read. Not as much as I've wanted to, anyway.

But as you can see, I have a shiny new layout! I'm still working out some kinks; I'm not completely happy with it, but I'll get there. I've also decided to change this blog around a little. I'm not going to be reviewing just Young Adult books anymore. While I do love me some YA, that's not all I read all the time. Lately I've found myself reading more adult fiction and even going back to some classic pre-1900s titles, so I figured I would have more to talk about if I didn't limit this blog to just YA. During my absence, I have been keeping up with my challenges as best I could, and reading some ARCs from NetGalley. While I haven't been on top of things in terms of reviewing, I definitely will try my best to crank out some reviews for what I've read since I've been away, so look out for those. :)

Coming this week in reviews:
  • Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill
  • Come See About Me C.K. Kelly Martin
  • Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey

This week on the blog:
  • Les Misérables by Victor Hugo: Book (movie tie-in edition) and film (Blu-ray + DVD combo) - click here

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Piece of My Heart by Lynn Maddalena Menna
The Favor by Megan Hart

I figured since I'm off to Cancun in a few hours (I'll catch up on sleep on the plane), I might as well crank out one last Sunday Post before the new year. There won't be much activity on the blog in the next two weeks, though the hotel does have wifi and I have a few reviews queued up, but I will definitely be reading... poolside. ;) Then it's off to Calgary at the end of December for New Years. Can't wait to see my grandma and my other family members.

The last week was made up of finishing up school, spending time with family, and packing for this week. The latter started way, way late... I'm not even fully packed yet and our flight is in 6 hours. I lost count of how many times I've watched the series already, but I killed so much time watching my favourite Filipino soap opera on DVD over the week, too. I don't usually buy these soaps on DVD, but I had to with this one. I can't get enough of it. It's brilliant.

Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin (internationally released as One Great Love)

Two brothers estranged and thrust into contrasting worlds finally meet and get into a secret accord but are eventually led by fate to choose between fulfilling the duty they have vowed to honor and protecting their own family.

As far as the blog goes, I'm still trying to find a way to get a reply link on my comments page, or debating on whether or not I should just change my layout completely; start the year off with something new. We'll see! I got a great haul in the last week, as I'm starting to collect books for the 2013 challenges I signed up for, as well as for giveaways in the coming months. If you want to join in on the fun, check the sidebar for some awesome challenges! I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone's reading.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas, and to those that don't celebrate, enjoy the holiday season! Also, have a happy and safe New Years. Until then!

Wow, I haven't done a Sunday Post in a few weeks. School has been ridiculously busy with final projects and papers and final prep... I was on the verge of a break down. I haven't even been able to catch up with my DVR recordings. I'm going crazy. Lol. But thankfully everything's been handed in on time and now it's just a matter of getting through finals. That reminds me, I'll have to find time to study today. The first one is already on Wednesday. Then I'll have to get ready for Christmas vacation! Super excited. The family and I will be getting out of this cold Canadian weather and heading to Mexico for a week. Can't wait!

Reading-wise, I've had a pretty good week -- weeks, actually. I've gotten quite a few reviews done in the time that I haven't done a Sunday Post, which you can see here. I'm keeping my haul pretty light again so I can catch up.

I'd also just like to thank everyone who has commented on my reviews and posts. I'm trying to sort out an issue I have with my comment form; for some reason I can't reply. I do read them and greatly appreciate the comments and reading your thoughts, so, thank you! I'm glad to share these titles with you all. Hope everyone has a great week, and happy reading!

First off, Happy Remembrance Day (Veterans Day for our neighbours to the south). Thank you to all the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country.

So, my godson's 7th birthday party was last night (just a few hours ago, actually). It was awesome to see all of our hard work pay off. The theme was Pokemon, and there were games, prizes, a clown, a pinata... it was great! The kids had an awesome time and everything went super smooth. One of his friends even said it was the best birthday party he'd ever been to. Haha. Also ot a lot of compliments on the games and the decorations that my aunt did; so gratifying to hear. I can't believe my fave little guy is 7 already. Cue the tears! He's growing up so fast. He loved the gift my family and I had gotten him (a large Bowser plush doll), he couldn't put it down after he opened it. Do I know how to pick 'em or what. Lol. Had a great week prior as well. There was just a lot of assigned reading for classes, but nothing's perfect. ;)

Got a pretty good haul this week; keeping it quite small so I can catch up with my other books. I can't wait to get to it and share my thoughts with you all!

Happy November, everyone! Can't believe we're approaching the end of the year already. Daylight savings time today; don't forget to turn back your clocks! I hope everyone had a happy Halloween as wel. I stayed in and did some reading, caught up on my PVR and helped give out candy. I think we got just about, or even over 100 kids this year. We definitely ran low on candy by the end of the night. I loved all the costumes I saw!

I spent this past week relaxing after my midterms and from finishing my assignments for school. I managed to crank out a few reviews and got started on a few books which I'll have up for review in a few days.

This week has been super hectic. I completely missed last week's Sunday Post due to being up to my elbows in midterms and assignments, thankfully I had my last one on Thursday. Last night we celebrated my precious little goddaughter's 3rd birthday at their place; my family got her a Dora bike... I spent a bit of time wheeling her around their apartment then ended up having a pretty epic Star Wars blaster fight with the cousins until 2:30am, so I'm kind of a zombie right now. Speaking of zombies, Halloween is coming up and I finally got my pumpkin! I'll start carving tomorrow and will post the end result. Today's just about me lazing about at home and catching up on my PVR. I did still manage to get a lot of reading done in the last two weeks! Also got a great haul since then, which I'm really stoked about.

Also... I got a new layout! I spent the wee hours of last night on Photoshop, coding, and further figuring out how Blogger works. I think this is the first time in 5 years that I had to reach into my brain and dig up some of my rusty HTML knowledge. Hopefully it's not too horrid.
