Hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer:
It's a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.
I hope everyone had a great first week of October! Hi to my new followers and old. The past week has been pretty busy IRL; the school work is piling on, that's for sure. I have a few assignments due this week and next week that will take a bit of my time. Plus the work on my godson's birthday party is still going strong; just a couple more weeks! I haven't had much time to update the blog, but I'm busy writing up a few reviews that should be up in the next few days. One downside that's kind of setting me back is me being sick. :( It's that time of year when everyone's getting sick, it seems. I'm currently typing this up wrapped up in a blanket with a cup of tea and a box of Kleenex.

I also had the extreme pleasure of watching The Perks of Being a Wallflower at the cinema on Friday (opening day). I already had high, high expectations with it being my favourite book ever, and it definitely did not disappoint. There were a few things that were cut out, but that's pretty much inevitable when it comes to book to movie adaptations. I'm really glad that Stephen Chbosky was able to write the screenplay and direct the film. I don't think anyone else would have done it justice. It was so well-acted, the cast was incredible, everyone from Emma Watson to Nina Dobrev... there were some big names from this generation but it didn't take away from the story at all. Ezra Miller as Patrick was the stand-out for me. Amazing. Logan Lerman was the perfect Charlie, I had no doubt in my mind that he would do a great job. By the end of it, my bag of popcorn was drowning in my tears. Perks fans will be happy with this.

Last week:

This week:
  • More reviews, including The Son of Neptuneby Rick Riordan and City of Bones by Cassandra Clare.
  • I'll be holding a new giveaway later this week; still deciding what it will be.
  • Continuing Spooktacular by reading/reviewing Sweet Venom by Tera Lynn Childs and Sweet Shadows, its squel.
  • Will be reviewing Order of the Dimensions by Irene Helenowski, provided by the author

New bookshelf additions:
  • The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan
  • Order of the Dimensions by Irene Helenowski

To all my Canadians, Happy Thanksgiving weekend!

  • Nice book haul and things sound busy, busy, busy in your world. Glad things are going well for the party. I joined Marie's challenge too..it should be fun. Thanks for being a part of The Sunday Post

  • I looked for Perks at B&N today and found a small copy with the movie picture as the cover. It was really expensive though so I was trying to find an original copy. Is it adult or YA fiction? I couldn't find it anywhere else and really want to read it. Glad to hear the movie was good. Do you recommend reading it before seeing the movie? My STS/Sunday Post

  • Very busy! Thank goodness it's a long weekend so I can catch up on things. Paranormal is my favourite, I'm really stoked about this challenge. Hope you enjoy as well!

  • It is a YA novel. I really hope they kept copies with the original cover in stock! I hope you find it. I personally recommend reading the book first, but the movie does have enough narrative. On the other hand, reading the book gives you a chance to imagine things and build up your own first impressions, so when you see the movie you'd notice the differences right away. It's really up to your preferences, but the two don't really differ apart from some parts being cut out. I think the director also being the author is an advantage because he made it as close to the book as possible.

  • I'm waiting to read Perks before I catch the movie, probably on DVD - but it's good to see that you enjoyed it. Now I'm even more anxious to get to the book.

Boo for being sick, I hope you're better soon.

It's good when the author can be involved in turning their book into a movie. It's not a guarantee but usually they can keep the movie on track.

    Enjoy your books. :)

  • Hope you feel better soon. Glad you liked the movie so much... Sounds like you have had a great week. Happy reading.
